Transforming Raw Restaurant Data into Actionable Insights for Data-Driven Storytelling

PROBLEM

STATEMENT

The client (Toast Inc.) needed a data analyst with proficiency in Google Sheets (and Excel) to identify patterns from raw data. Their team needed someone to come in and uncover interesting insights from heaps of data they were sitting on. These insights were fed into their articles for data storytelling.

SOLUTION

I studied the data and used a diverse range of formulas, pivot tables, and similar functions to analyze the data for useful information. It often required the analysis of several variables from multiple tabs to retrieve the desired insights. For example, I had to retrieve the hot-selling menu items for certain restaurants and cafes across different cities and the data was scattered in more than 20 sheets.
